Blog Entry #10 Love the Holidays
For my last blog, I wanted to talk about how thankful I am since Thanksgiving just passed. Thankfulness is a gift that keeps on giving. Although there isn't enough time to count all of my blessings here, here are some things I am thankful for this holiday season.
For one thing, I am thankful for Christmas coming up, my family and I are doing a secret santa this year and I got my older brother Devon. We don't get to see each other as often as I would like us too. He works two jobs and provides for his beautiful family. So I feel so grateful that I drew him, because I can connect with my older brother this way and show him extra special love through the secret santa. The problem is keeping it a secret. With the way my family is about secrets it can be hard. But I am excited for Christmas, it is the most wonderful time of the year! I am thankful for Christmas time, the festivities, the hot cocoa and Christmas movies, everything about Christmas is my favorite. Especially the reason for the season, for me Christmas is everyday and I am eternally grateful for that.
Speaking of which I am extremely thankful for my family. This year, we experienced loss, and it has humbled me to be there for my family and with my family more. Especially my siblings. Losing a sibling changes you to the very core of your being, and I am thankful for the ones I can still see here and now. I am thankful for my parents, who worked hard to give us what we needed; we never went without. I am thankful for my grandparents, who endured every trial and test of their lives to bless me with their wisdom and love that I get from them today. I am thankful for the breath in my lungs and the body I have to move and be in. I am thankful for GCC and all the great teachers I have ever had at this school. Thanksgiving doesn't start when the turkey is fresh out of the oven or end when the festive spread of Thanksgiving food is rendered to crumbs. It's every single day and begins from the moment we wake up to the moment we lay our heads down to sleep. Thanksgiving is a way of life, and I'm thankful to feel so full of thankfulness.
